Art Nouveau Avatars - The Four Seasons by swadeart Art Nouveau Avatars - The Four Seasons by swadeart

Tumblr Link! please reblog from there rather than posting again :D

The idea from the beginning was to make a piece that played on Alphonse Mucha's Four Seasons only with the most recent Avatars.  If you prefer a different order be sure to check out my gallery as I already made another version.

My inbox just exploded because of the DD post, sorry if I'm not able to respond to everyone!  Thanks for the support!

First of, simply brilliant, I'm currently using it as my laptop's background :)
That being said, I do have something to point out: while the 3 older Avatars have been connected to their Nation through the respective National Emblem on the top of the images (Air Nomads for Aang, etc...), Korra is depicted with the elemental symbol of Water. Don't know if this was done on purpose or was simply a mix up, but I thought I would point it out...
(don't know if someone else had already noticed this before me, since I didn't read all the other comments, but if anybody did, my apologies...)

Someone mentioned that before (possibly on reddit) and admittedly it was due to a confusion on my part.  I had noticed the Water Tribe "National" symbol (the moon and the waves) was used almost exclusively by the Northern Water tribe and it featured strongly in their clothing, banners, and architecture.  There wasn't really a direct analog for the south and the symbol isn't seen on any Southern tribe gear I'm aware of but the "waterbender" symbol is, if only on a single necklace.  Simply put I took this to mean that one symbol was for the northern tribe and one was for the southern.  And Korra is from the south.

Of course as you know it's really just a quirk of there being so few southerners in the show and what gear they have is more rustic (so no architecture w/ symbols, flags, etc).  Small pools of data often lead us to incorrect conclusions like this.

That said, I think from a visual perspective it's more pleasant this way and I think using the other bending symbols would have been disruptive because they are only represented as line art and as such couldn't support the two-tone theme I wanted to carry forward.

Thanks for your feedback!

Ya, I've got to agree with you, it looks much better this way, though you can see the Water tribe flag on southerner equipment sometimes during A:TLA...

To be fair, I finished this in July 2013 and Book 2 hadn't even aired yet.  But keep an eye out, I'm cooking on some new stuff.

Gorgeous! This is definitely one of the best Mucha takes I've seen (nobody seems to be able to get it right!). Great job on the shading & lines!
